Applications for HMO3, HMO4+ positions with Monash Health

There are so many opportunities for our HMO3/4+’s at Monash Health. We have every specialty at Monash Health so GP hopefuls can access Paediatrics, Obstetric & Gynaecology, and Certificate of Women’s’ Health/Diploma of Obstetrics (6 months rotations), critical care.

You can continue down the Physicians pathway and apply for a BPT2 position (through the PMCV match), or for a Surgical or General stream HMO position.

Each year job lines are created for HMOs to preference. You will be asked for your preferences in October/November each year for the following clinical year commencing in February.

You will be sent your job line in early December and your first term roster 2-4 weeks prior to the start of the clinical year.

HMO2 & HMO3 General rotations are broken up into x3 sub-streams. General Practice, Medicine and Critical Care. Below are the rotations available to HMO3 Generals at Monash.


Critical Care Stream

The HMO Critical Care stream is now a sub-stream of the General HMO plan. Please see below.

The purpose of this is to assist with progression though the pathway and set HMOs up with the required experience and varied rotations to apply for training programs in the future should they wish to pursue a career in critical care specialities.


  • Intensive Care Medicine (5-6 Months)

  • Emergency Medicine (5-6 months)

  • 5 weeks Annual Leave

You may also have the opportunity to preference some HMO2 rotations so please check under that tab for additional rotation options.

You are entitled to x5 weeks AL per clinical year

You will be required to participate in the reliving roster and nights.

Please note, apart from the Monash sites of Clayton, Dandenong, Casey, Kingston &Moorabbin; Some of the above rotations may also be at the secondment sites of Wonthaggi & Mildura.
