Monash Doctors Education has developed 2 workshops that are designed to provide HMOs with the opportunity to develop their skills and knowledge on a range of important professional topics. Each workshop is facilitated through small group learning and is delivered in a practical and interactive way by Monash Health clinicians and staff.
Topics will vary, but examples from previous sessions include:
- Simulation training – Management of the unwell patient
- Assertiveness and escalation techniques
- Skills training – CVC insertion; landmarks and Seldinger technique or Intercostal catheter insertion
- Ultrasound guided peripheral iv access
- The JMO role in NFR orders
- Medical documentation – Death certificates
- Stress management – tips and techniques
- Antibiotics – advanced prescribing in the hospital environment
